I do see what you are referring to. The percentage I have found in other articles is <1% of this happening. That means such a small number of people reportably had this problem indicates to me. Was there an endocopy done prior to the start of Nexium? Even if it was the damage event happened after the start of Nexium could it be that the subject patient missed or was skipping doses of this drug and did not report it.
Honestly, there are too many if's, if a positive is <1%. I would not worry about this.
I have been on Nexium for many years now and yes, I sometimes have breakthrough acid reflex. But what drug works 100%???
Take inconsideration we only know about 10% of what a drug can do.
You take care
Had an endoscopy done in 2003 and no esophagitis, just small hiatel hernia. Now, the hernia is larger and have esophagitis. Will be discussing all this with my doc soon, after biopsies return. You said you had been on nexium for many years, wow. I have been reading that nexium should only be used for 4-8 weeks but other articles said clinical studies have been done for folks on it up to a year. I am just wary of all medications and possible side effects but also am thankful that I do not have the reflux like I once had, that was very terrible. thanks for your comments/feedback.
When you have reflux problems like me, if I go off of my medication I raise my chances of Cancer. So I stick with the medication than Cancer.
I wish you good health
It is good to see when people are concerned about the medications they take. Keep the good work up.
