Anyone taken Gabapentin for shingles, any advice?

Hi. Take the med at bedtimes. My daughter takes it then to relieve pain. She can sleep better and we all know sleep is essential to healing. She takes it in the day when her neck gets really bad. She makes sure she doesn't drive and of course no alcohol of any amount.

She has occasional vivid dreams but they are just interesting and no big deal. She is young twenties and works hard.

Try it and see. Shingles hurt like crazy. You can always call your doc if there is an issue. Right? Good luck.

I did not take Gabapentin for shingles but for a herniated disc. I took 600mg 3 times a day. I felt no effects from the medication. It did not make me tired nor did it help with the pain. Good luck, I hope that it works for you.

I have been taking Gabapentin for about a year for the nerve pain of shingles. I am able to take only 1 300 capsule per day and take at night because of side effects that linger if I take in the daytime.

Hi daisybean, my son had shigles near his eyes & they prescribed Lyrica for his. Helped the pain a lot , but the side effect of some blurry vision he could not work with, but it did help the pain tremendously. I take it for fibromyalgia, & couldn't manage without it... Just a thought... Mary
