My Dr. prescribed it for an off-label use - to help with the pain in my spine/neck and all the nerve reactions in my arms. It's approved use is for osteoporisis (sp?).

Hi there Tonka. The best I could do is send this link with others opinions on this med. Overall, the rating is pretty good! I hope it works for you too. It sounds like it may take some time, but if it helps, great! Hope you get the other issue settled soon.
Best wishes,
chris

Tonla8561 from what I read it is for what you have and as stated it sounds like it takes time but if it does work (osteoporosis) increase Calcium absorption and deal with pain as well then it would be well worth it please I hope this helps a little I wish you only the best
Thanks Caringsonbj - I am hoping it does help for what I wrote above, and also that it might keep my disks from busting.
And I know - stick with it. My Dr. wants me to take it for a month and see if it helps by that thime.
Has your doctor diagnosed you with osteoporosis, & have you had the DEXA(sp) test that gives the level of osteoporosis? You sholdn't be taking it unless the pills, ie Actonel, Boniva, or the nasal spray Calcitonin haven't helped increase bone density. Back & neck pain can be caused from several different things; spinal stenosis (surgery), ruptured discs, arthritis, etc.. Only X-rays will confirm compression fractures that are not healing (such as mine) with the use of other bone building medicines, would call for the use of Forteo! PPLEASE check with your doctor not us for ALL the facts of your condition! I am hearing that some doctors are prescribing Forteo for thyroid problems etc! Un-believable!!! If you find out you do not have compression fractures, or haven't tried other options, I would suggest a second opion Good luck. Let me know, I'm very interested in this topic because of the possible side effect of osteosarcoma with the use of Forteo.
