What is it that you are allergic to? Rather than staying on medications for a long time is it possible to stay away from your allergens or have desensitization therapy (allergy shots)? No matter how long you can stay on the meds they are just keeping a reaction at bay - you're body is still being exposed to what you are allergic to and you will pay the price with a reduced immune system. -

Ive been using a facial night cream called Baschi for more than a year. I bought it in HongKong and it was supposed to be made in Thailand. Sometime last year, I found out it was made in China. I stopped using it and started having this allergic reaction. I blamed it on the new moisturizer I was using and tried other brands but the reaction was still the same. Eventually I went back to using Baschi and my skin cleared up. I tried stopping for about 4 times already and it has always been the same. I get so fed up that i went back to using Baschi. This time I really want to stop using this cream. After 3 days of medications,my skin went back to almost normal and I had shrimps for dinner and my face started itching and hives appeared later in the night.I tried asking my dermatologist but she said I had contact dermatitis which had nothing to do with food.
Im wondering if the shrimps had something to do with the second bout of allergy. By the way, I continued using my foundation and face powder which didnt cause any allergic reactions while I was using Baschi. I couldn't pinpoint anything that could have caused this allergy except 1. stopping Baschi 2. then eating shrimps.
Well, I just don't know. Has it been awhile since eating the shrimp? I'm not sure I agree with your allergist - in my experience I had a contact dermatitis on my face and it was from something I was eating. I would give it a bit, let the reaction die down and try again - just dealing with the Bashi cream and your face, not adding in a 3rd unknown. I would also advise you to see an allergist at a tertiary hospital - a large teaching hospital or university hospital. They see so much more than a general allergist does and would be better equipped to figure out what specific ingredient is causing this problem. Best wishes -
The reaction to the shrimp came after around 4 hours thats why i immediately made the connection. I'm avoiding seafoods now just to narrow down possible allergens. Im thinking of seeing a pathological dermatologist tomorrow. Thanks for your help.
