My son (6yrs.) has been on Focalin for maybe 4 months or so and just recently has issues with staying in the room by hisself. It doesnt matter if it daylight or dark or if u just went to the next room or to the restroom for just a second. He follows me around constantly. I cant even put him to bed by his self in the same room with my other son (8yrs) if he is already asleep. I dont know if this is typical for his age or the meds. I dont remember my other two kids ever being this way. They dont have adhd. Just my 6yr old does.

Taking Focalin by children do have common side effects of strange behaviors of being either agitated or of being restlessness, I guess a talk with him could be helpful, or you could seek advice & help from the doc/pharmacist who prescribed the med., he.she may change the med so that your son is more comfortable.
Take care of him, please, wish him the best!

It could just be his age but has something happened recently that might make him more clingy?? Anything unusual happen in the family? Is he having bad dreams? I'm just wondering if something happened to make him scared of being alone. Children have strange thought processes some times and draw some strange conclusions. Try talking to him to see if you can draw out why he is scared. When my son was young, he used to be scared of staying in his room alone and I created "monster spray" which was just a spray bottle of water with scent along with coloring and I used to spray the room "to kill all the monsters" and this used to work until he outgrew it. I'm not sure it is the focalin but it is possible. You might want to talk to his Dr but see if you can find out from the child what is scaring him. Something is bothering him.
