The doctor will start him on a low dose at first and go up from there.It all depends how your son responds to this drug. This is a great drug if monitored, not only by you. To make sure he takes it and by the doctor to see if your son needs less or more.

He has taken other antidepressants and Seroquel at the lowest dose, but it hasn't helped his OCD. I read online that with OCD, you often have to take a higher dose (up to 200mg) to see improvements. I was wondering if anyone else had that experience?
Hi, I have been on this drug on and of (off twice) and it has been up to as much as 250mg... I have been taking them since i was 8 and i am now 15. At first they helped a lot, although made me very tired and weak.
About a year ago i has told to stop taking them, but days after i did, i went right back to the way i was. This was the stage my doctor became very worried and put me onto 250mg... Being on such a high dose i got sick, and spent 2 days in hospital because i had trouble waking up and picking up object as heavy as 5kg... I went right off them and eventually everything became bright.
Its not 9 months later to the day, witch made me look this up... Lately i have gone back to the same way... Depressed and i dont know why. Today my doctor (same doctor) put me back on them. 50mg... And im actually scared.
The meaning of me posting this is so you are extra cautious about the level of dosage... Good luck.
