I took fluoxetine for years alone and some time combined with other drugs, and was always a success. Jan last year seemed it stopped working. Went On effexor for the whole year with some success. Going back to fluoxetine is it a good idea? Being on 20mg for a month but not feeling great. Shall I talk to my doc to increase the dose or try something else? Any comment will be really appreciated.

Hello my friend, has fluoxetine helped any? I know that i had that same experiance with zoloft. i was on it for 8 years and i was great, then after the birth of my son and my hubby getting sick with cancer i was overwhelmed, i was upped to 150 and still no relief. then i was switched to effexor and it worked for the depression for 3 years at 75 mg, but i was always moody and aggitated. The dr put me back on zoloft and i couldnt take the side effects i gave it 9 weeks and i felt horrible. now im back on effexor and the depression is gone although i still have some unpleasant side effects and im debating whether or not to try something else. IDK, im sorry i dont know if this helps but i wanted to mention my experiance. Good luck and God Bless - Nena

Hey Marcio,
The only thing I wanted to mention is that Effexor is an SNRI while Prozac (fluoxetine) is an SSRI. Two different types of antidepressants. If the Effexor helped then maybe staying on a SNRI type antidepressant would be better such as Pristiq or Cymbalta. You can always try an increase in the prozac and if it doesn't help reconsider an SNRI.

Hello Laurie. Thank you so much! In really glad you still there. You helped me so much last year don't know if you remember! Will take your advice into consideration once more. I have to say that although not experienced as much as you are I kind of try to work out "solutions" too and they are almost as good ad yours.! :). Once again . Thank you so much . xx
you are certainly welcome Marcio!!!
