dear Harley, many of the over the counter sprays like that were also pulled because they contained a decongestant. Last time I checked, vicks had one out, it had the antihistamine and OXYMETAZEOLINE, (sorry, sure spelling is wrong, but iPad will not let me type it in non capitals) as the decongestant. Different cities may have different rules on any meds containing psuedophed or other decongestants, some make them only available by asking the pharmacist and showing your drivers license. You may have noticed the over the counter decongestant called pseudophed, now is called psuedophedPE because of these laws and the people who buy up large quantities of the original formula, and they have been making meth out of the pseudophed. Novartis OTC says the brand is not discontinued, but the plant is being renovated (and will be open again later this year). In the meantime... a generic is available. Equate (Walmart) Fast Acting Nasal Spray is the same thing as 4-Way (red label). There is even a small gold circle on the label that states: "Compare to 4-Way Nasal Spray Active Ingredient."

If you look up "phenylephrine" which is in 4 way nasal spray, you'll see that this as of yet wasn't approved by the FDA. Figures, I'm age 62 and in my earlier years (40 years ago), I used to put certain things up my nose to get a buzz (stupid of me) and kinda ruined
the innerds of whatever's there. Anyway, for 10 or so years I did the Afrin thing
which worked great 'till my nose needed something else and low and behold, there was "4 way nasal spray" which phenylephrine shrinks the inflamed blood vessels in your nose so you could breath but like Tylenol Xtra Strength, they took it off the shelf. So, I travelled to hells half acre looking for 4 way nasal spray only to realize there ain't anymore. There's even a couple of so called
"jitrools" on e-Bay trying to sell one bottle of this stuff for $75 and Amazon has a bottle for $45. What a country,eh! But all is not lost. I found a nasal spray

Hello I am having the same problem. Novartis is upgrading their facility they have said since the beginning of the year. The best thing to do is keep sending them emails on their site There is a way to email them but you have to play with the site. Or you can call them at 800-452-0051. Today they told me they will be re releasing the product, but no one seems to have a date. I know if enough people speak up and say something we will get our product back!
Have you tried Neo Synephrin? It has the same ingredients. I tried it and it works fine maybe even better or you can always vist Amazon.com and for $45
purchase a bottle or you can buy-it-now on e-Bay for a mere price of $75.
What some people will do, eh?
Thanks Ruggy Cat..I will try it.

It's been gone here in Phoenix for over a year, thank goodness I was a hoarder of 4 way menthol spray because it has gotten me they til about a month ago, my problem was I hate the long nozzle of the other nasal sprays. I liked 4 ways shorter wider nozzle. So what I just did, I bought a compare to 4 way nasal spray at Walmart and switched out the bottles, I put the Walmart brand In the 4 way bottle and even tho it's not the menthol it still works pretty good. Just a helpful post to all those who really miss 4 way. Don't understand what the hold up is and why no one is commenting anywhere in the media, but will be anxious to get them back

I think that Neo-Synephrine is the same thing.
I found the problem. Let me see if I can add a link to the FDA website. They are pulling it because of the phenylephrine.

I found it on the FDA website. Here is the deal: this spray contains pyrilamine maleate which IS approved as an oral antihistamine but is not FDA approved as a topical so it is considered a "new" drug and will have to go through approvals again. It may be quite awhile or they my need to reformulate it without this particular drug. I tried to add a link to the actual letter to Bristol-Meyers Squibb but the site moderators are holding it and probably wont allow it since it was directing you to another site. If you want to read it, go to the FDA website and type in a search for 4 Way nasal spray and a link will come up to the letter.
Thanks for investigating that for me. In the mean time I shall use the generics. Maybe it's just me but it seems like I use the generics more often than the brand. Anyway I appericiate your imput.
They may not have all the same ingredients. They will all have the phenylephrine but may not have the exact same other ingredients. You do know that stuff isnt good to use on a daily basis? Of course this is the pot calling the kettle black but I have gotten myself addicted to the 12 hour nose sprays and I know how difficult it is to come off of them with the rebound stuffiness and I just HATE not being able to breathe but I know of more than one person who had to have sinus surgery after years of nasal spray use so I try not to use very often. I use Nasonex instead to keep me from getting stuffed up in the first place.
yea your right, but I have to tell you, I have been using 4way spray for 30+ years and as far as I know it's hurt my pocket maybe more than my body. Like I said thats as far as I know. one thing for sure I do like not being all stuffed up so I figure I will keep using one of the brands

Nice try, but the date on that letter is from 1998. I'm pretty sure that isn't the issue 14 years later.
Until a couple of years ago 4 way was the only spray I used. Since, I've tried several other namebrands & generics also. 'Without exception,' NONE worked as well. NONE of the pharmacists that I asked, no one was able to tell me if/when they may stock the product in the future. HAS ANYONE HEARD IF THEY WILL?? Thank you..
