Hi Howard,
Have you tried Neurontin (or Gabapentin - generic name) instead of Lyrica?
It is the sister-drug of Lyrica, but works sometimes when lyrica does not.
There also are narcotic type medications such as Hydrocodone, or Oxycodone that may help with the pain, they can be addictive, yet your pain sounds bad enough to warrant the use of one of these medications.
Best wishes.

How long have you been taking the medications? Those need some time to go into effect. Contact your doctor's office and tell them that the pills aren't working and that you need more relief.
How long ago did you have the stroke? What kind of stroke was it? I had a stroke 3 plus years ago and still suffer from pain and disabilities from it, although not the heat problem. Why do you think that the cause is fibromyalgia when it is due to your stroke?
Hi sara12345,
I (respectfully) disagree about (especially) Lyrica, I felt it from the first tab I took, the celexa or cymbalta (can't recall which) do take a couple of weeks to get into ones system. But Lyrica, that stuff is potent!! I was reeling around my house like a drunken sailor, or felt as if I smoked pot. Just my opinion.
Yes, I agree with you. If a drug hits you hard, then you need to back off and call your doctor. My answer above doesn't make a lot of sense anyway. I think I meant to say that if the person had been on the pills for awhile and was not getting relief, then you need to call your doctor's office. Oh well. Sorry.

Well I have the lower chronic back conditon with the Fibromyalgia too. I am currently on Duragesic patches with Percs. for breakthrough and Robaxin. What about you girl?
Ruthie, I'm on zanaflex (yet going to ask for robaxin) and neurontin and some oxycodone, yet I've tried so many different things, that I've a drawer filled with meds that didn't work (cymbalta, lyrica, skelaxin, and the list goes on and on!!). Don't you just feel like a guinea pig at times? I sure do!!
Hugs,
Lara
Lara, I love your name... It was my mama's. Anyhoo... ugh yeah... I've felt like a guinea pig, been treated like one, it's like come on now ya'll we're not cattle needing a sheep dog to round us up. We're human being's with real problems and stuff. I've had a few doctors I'de like to had lassoe'd up and well... then I'll be nice now. I have great doctor's now, Thank God, but it took a couple of rough go arounds before I found them. It's funny. I just replied to a post where someone said they got no benefit at all from Robaxin. I was like..what. I'm telling you. People are different. I'de hate to say it's great and you not like it, but I'm going to at least suggest it, because you may be like me, and benefit from it greatly and love it. Are you having a good Sunday honey?
Hi Ruthie,
I'd just love to hear what you'd do to those lassooed (sp?) docs!!
If I hear of a med that is working for someone else and I try it and there is no benefit, I certainly do not blame the person who told me about it, because, as you said, we all are so different. I was singing the praises of Baclofen for months until the nasty side effects crept up on me! Then I went off of it.
That was a shame, because for a few months my pain levels were down to nil. And now they are way up there, again.
So if I try Robaxin I promise not to hold you responsible for the way my body reacts to it!!!
I'd like to lassoo a few docs myself Ruthie!!! LOL!!
I got some ropes and some horses honey. Head my way and we'll track um down, then we'll ride you're way. Heck, I don't have any of that stuff. Listen at me, trying to sound all Bonnie and Clyde. I would like to have a couple of horses. Why am I saying that. I couldn't ride the dang things in my condition. I could stare at them. Yeah. I think I may need professional help. Oh..I allready got that. lol. He keeps telling me I'll get better honey. Just hang in there with me. lol. Don't give up on me now. lol. Oh, I love to laugh with you. It helps me make it through the rough days sometimes. And you know how to make someone laugh. That's one thing I love about you. Have you a marvelous day darling. Big luvs and hugs from Georgia. Love ya, Ruthie
Ruthie,
I had to thin the heard gurl. I can no longer ride, nor take jumps like I used to with the fibro. The day after riding (the three days after riding) are hellish, and so painful that I had to kiss my big friends bye bye.
Sold some, gave a couple away. Sigh. I miss them, but I couldn't keep up with the work either.
In another life Ruthie!!
xoxo
Lara, I hear you there girl. I used to love, and I mean love to ride. Now I can't even think about it with the back, knee's, and Fibro. The long canoe trips. Yeah, it takes too much out of ya to do those things anymore. But theres other things we can enjoy. Don't ask me what Lara. lol. but there are. Have a good one sweetie. Ruth
Laughing Ruthie!! Thank you, it IS the best medicine!!
