WORSE!!! My pain has been quite bad recently, and I just want to know what you all think about ANYTHING that may exacerbate the pain, diet, weather, vitamin deficiencies, anything really!
All opinions and comments welcome.
Thank you all,

durrrrrrrr, Forgot to add, I can read a lot on the web, I want personal info from everyone.
AND we just got central air, so the humidity factor (which I always thought aggravated my pain) is now blown to bits!!

i was diagnosed with fibro just over 5 yrs ago and i tried everything, physical therapy, pain meds ( cant take asprin or nsaids, etc allergic to all of them) i even had a injection in my lower spin near the tail bone which omg it worked for 9months but now because of my insurance i cant get the injections as they wont pay for it. i suffer every day with it, and i noticed even with warmer weather it makes it hurt more. i cant even sleep good any more as its mostly on my right side due to a car accident i had in 98, seems im gonna have to live with the pain, i only use flexarill(spelling) when i have to and i take tylenol every day and at bedtime. now it seems ive got a fatty tumor on my chest which makes my fibro worse as somedays it feels like my chest was smashed and no dr will help me. ive just gotta face the pain and deal with it as well as i can. thanks.
you are sure right about the weather as I posted to Sweetlemon this morning about 1:20 a.m. it got hot and humid in the house I woke up and my legs and back hurt so bad I thought I could hardly stand it, Take good care
Hi Eve, have you been checked for RSD? It usually affects one side of the body where Fibro affects the entire body, both sides. RSD is horribly painful, and whether you have Fibro or RSD, you need to sleep! Ask your doc for a benzodiazapine like Xanax, it will help you sleep, yet they are addictive, so be careful.
The Mad Man, you really are inspiring! I also find that getting out and being around other people helps me tremendously, I am a social animal, and I also am a positive person most of the time. Today being the exception.
A friend of mine told me in an email, "I wasn't in the obits today, so it must be a good day for me"... thought that was perfect! And hilarious! Humour helps me quite a bit, anything I am able to laugh over is a good thing!!

I tried to answer this earlier & my computer flipped out! I don't think there is one answer. I have many different pain problems so sometimes it is hard to sort out which is what & so on. Seems to me too much heat, & humidity play a big role. Now a dry heat as in AZ seems to be better. I know one of the theories of fibro is you get it from a traumatic event in your life. I believe mine was my first back surgery. The full moon seems to play a role, as we don't sleep very well during this period. I think someone mentioned water in our systems, well the moon does effect that just like our tides. I didn't even realize it was full moon time, & wasn't sleeping well, & feeling just horrible all over. Have to get that REM sleep. Now that's past I am sleeping better & feeling better. Also if you over exert yourself I believe this is as harmful as no activity. Need to find a balance. Keep your mind occupied, & off the aches & pains.
Hi Lara! Mary is correct & hit it right on the button! :)
As we are all individuals, unique in our own rights & senses, there's not just ONE solitary answer.
Getting back to nature & helping to nourish our souls will help with our needs to find a balance, a blend if you will, of our own unique requirements to create our optimal selves. Be the best that you can be! LOL
Oftentimes we have several layers of pain overlapping. Our bodies will try to help us with its repairs, if we can "listen" to our bodies, & find the correct recipe that we can customize for ourselves (sometimes through trial & error).
So, sweetlemon, did you know that you're really a chef looking for those secret ingredients? LOL
We humans are all the same, yet we are all different. What works for me, Lara, may have adverse effects for you. However, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
May you find your special recipe sooner rather than later. I wish you good health & a good summer, Lara!

I know all this 'mind over matter' sounds unreal but Sometimes it helps to get your mind focused on something besides pain. I live with constant pain and although my 'mind over matter' is not as strong as it used to be, it still works on occasion and that is when I notice, I forgot about my pain FOR ONCE. I am not a social animal but like being outside, even on the cold days. I can only stay in bed so long and then depression sets in. I enjoy bringing my music to the beach and listening to the powerful instruments. Watching the waves crash along with a musical burst is like being at a symphony. I don't get out much lately but I have to force myself now and usually come home feeling good until the evening but at least it gave my mind something else to focus on. I sometimes bring my camera or ANYTHING I can use as a distraction.

Sweetlemon, I have been in pain and agony the last month or so too! I agree with Indylady, I can tell it is going to rain way before it ever does. Mary, yes, the dry heat in AZ does help. If I go visit family where there is humidity, I definitly notice the effects.I honestly dont think I could handle a midwestern winter anymore. We are getting our Monsoons right now in AZ so our humidity is up so perhaps that is what is causing the increase in pain I've been having lately. Also I do agree with the Moon theory too! As a nurse for many years, I truly do believe the moon phases effect us ways we dont even begin to know!!! I was never formally diagnosed with fibro but I KNOW I have suffered from it since my late twenties. Then it was just said to be cervical radiculopathy and TMJ and perhaps that played a part too but I had ALL the signs and symptoms of Fibro.
DzooBaby, I am so very sorry that you and everyone else has to even go through these experiences with debilitating pain. I was in tears while I was reading your post, especially near the end. My mom is still alive & doesn't have any major health problems & she's 92! I think that's quite an accomplishment right there! I feel as if my mom can walk (not run, not yet anyway) many circles around me. I don't look too ill, I'm only 54 years old. I don't even know what's causing my pain & what's really wrong with me. Sometimes people ask me what's wrong with me (healthwise~~~I know about the other things LOL) and I struggle to answer. It sounds so silly & petty & maudlin & melodramatic & overly sensitive. It's almost like it should be nothing for me to overcome, to them & also to me, when I try to answer them.
Dzoobaby it's , all you need is to visit the state where I live and the humidity is to where you can almost reach out and touch it, my legs (since it's been like this hurt) it's overcast here today I just hope we get even a little rain might give some relief. I wish you the very best!

Hi sweets, so sorry to hear you are hurting so bad! I do know that even with the central air conditioning the humidity and especially changes in the weather sets my pain areas off really bad! My best help, and hardest thing to do, is to acheive balance. Sleep enough, eat right, get enough exercise but not too much exercise, avoid harmful stress but do have some good stress (like challenges that make life worthwhile) have fun!, give back - the list goes on and on. One thing falls out of balance and soon everything does. Something I am trying very hard on is to keep myself distracted. I'm finding that distraction is the most potent pain reliever there is but it's tough finding things I'm passionate about after 14 years of dismissing everything because it causes too much pain. I do think if I could find something that only caused my physical pain to be somewhat worse but really engaged my mind - I could lose myself In it, if only for awhile. But what is that? I'll let you know if I find it!
Hi again ElizaJane! Please don't forget to try Pogo.com These different free online games are a welcome distraction to me & many others. Also, there are so many people who use this site who have health issues & disabilities. I have another family here, similar to my Drugs.com family.
I don't use it just as therapy & relaxation for my mind but also physical therapy for my left hand which is partially numb. I have made many friends on Pogo who support me & give me comfort. Plus, there is laughter! And, who couldn't use more friends?

Hi Lara:
Sorry to hear of your pain as it is hard to endure. I wish to share what works for myself with my doctor's approval. Avoid nightshade vegetables (tomatoes, potatos, eggplant, peppers) increase the amount of garlic and onion in your diet. Add turmeric supplements. Try L-Lysine 400mg 4 times a day on an empty stomach. I also take COQ-10. If you do not already, increase your exercise. I tried this during an acute attack and my pain went away in three days. In addition, I limit meat and avoid processed foods and sugars.
There can be many triggers - emotional, stress, and diet are among those that you need to keep an eye on. I also believe that weather can play a role as well. Hope this helps - good luck and good health to you.
Hi 4health,
Thank you for your input. I just recently learned about the Nightshades!! Had never heard that before, which is a bit of a disappointment, as I love all of them.
I do exercise, yoga, and dance, light cardio, which I agree helps.
I shall write down the supplements you've so kindly suggested, and purchase them today!
I am not very stressed out actually, I am pretty lucky in that department.
Thank you again!
Lara
May i also add how much i appreicate each one of you.I really have no support except on here. You are my friends my buddies and i cherish each one of you and i thank God for each one of you. Also may i add i do believe process foods also play a part and pestisides they put on the food when they grow it.I believe one day it will be found out that these to main things that cause fibro.May God Bless each one of you heal each one of you.Make his face to shine upon you.Give you peace and bring you joy.

Thank you Billy, I must agree about over doing it, I have been doing a little too much lately. I am not really under much stress though, but I know that plays a part in chronic pain.
People with fibro are often told "You look fine to me", which is slightly annoying, because we sure don't feel fine! Other diseases and or syndromes are obvious, yet fibro is not.
Thank you again,
Lara
Sweet, I don't kow anything about fibro. But I sure hate you being in so much pain. Maybe someone will help. I have a friend in N.C. that is an RN and she has fibro. I will ask her how she deals with it. Have a Blessed Day.
I am sure that weather and stress play a major part in pan. I don't care what the doctor says, I know my body and I know the weather does play a part in the pain I feel daily. As far as stress, a lot of that can't be avoided but I try and find something in my day that makes me smile. I like to go outside even on the bad days and ride my wheelchair down by the beach. I meet a lot of friendly people and that starts a smile. I look around at other people who don't have the same issues like I do and think 'one day' that will be me. It creates a bit of depression for the moment and then the moment passes and I enjoy the weather, the water and the visual stimulation. It keeps my mind off of the stress and puts me in 'wonderland' while I am enjoying the moment. Then when I get home, I notice, 'I had a good day' and that starts my day.

It's all about the mind healing and focusing and I do what I can to keep that part strong (in spite of the drugs) but it's a start for me and I hope to pass this along with a smile (in spite of the drugs I take... ). Best of luck friends.
What wonderful up lifting words, you have got to be a great person. God Bless you
Mad Man I think you're saying there is no choice about medications but despite that it takes every bit of positive effort you have to fight to reinforce yourself and keep positive, I know you are right about if you can be out around other people it's just an interaction that helps you help yourself, No matter how I hurt I try to take my 93 y/o Mamma out every day (Nifty lift and goo to where we both are exposed to other individuals.
Hi Lara! The MadMan is correct & hit it right on the button!
The mind (brain) can be an extremely powerful tool in recuperation & managing pain. Also, his key points of humour, satisfaction, exercise, fresh air & sunshine (Vitamin D), change of scenery, visual stimulation, feeling progression & forward movement, a purpose (focus), positive emotions, meeting new people, a sense of community & inclusiveness, relaxation (de-stressing) & feeling a sense of fun & enjoyment, happiness, contentment.
All too many times, we don't "listen" to our bodies but rather let our habits & routines & clocks dictate our activities. This is how overdoing it begins.
I believe that the weather does affect many of individuals with their health issues, so that's an opportunity to weigh the pros versus the cons.
Good luck with making your pain more tolerable, sweetlemon. All the best!
from your friend, Wendy :) "L-to the square"
Hey there L squared!!
I couldn't agree more with everything you said! Also, people who suffer from depression need that vitamin D from the sun!! Just a tip for any of my depressed friends.
Thanks Wendy!!
Billy I totally agree with the over doing it part.Ecspecially on a day i feel better i feel like i have to do all i couldnt do in days i had such severe worse pain.It definitly plays a roll i believe.
isn't it something that we feel we must do it all now or never, I think (really think that people with this and other neuromuscular problems are use to keeping on and thats there way of fighting, I change beds (momma is 93) and I live with her as I said I change beds on Friday, sometimes I don't feel quite up to it and cleaning but I think to myself you have to keep on keeping on or there will come a day when I may not be able to
I was a caregiver once for three friends and yes it can be a very busy job but somehow you find the energy because you know this is not for you but someone else that needs that special care and you do it unconditionally. Now the shoe for me is on the other foot. My caregiver does all the work, cleaning, laundry, shopping, cooking, not to mention the personal time he has to spend taking care of me. Today I want to help him around the house and I got yelled at because he does not want me to pull a muscle in my back. I am doing what I can because I care also about what this man does for me full time and I can only give him part time help. He keeps reminding me of the upcoming surgeries I will have to have for my back and he does not want to make it any worse on me but I have got to try to give back in any way I can and I will.
You are a good person, you are right it takes a lot but when you care about the person you take care of you want the best for them from what you say he is interested in seeing you be the best you can be, and you appreciate him enough to want to try and make thinngs as easy (lighten the load if you possibly can! sounds like a good relationship take care and have a good day,
