... the brand? I've been using the patch since my car accident in 04. I broke my back in two places. Right after the accident the doctor perscribed me Tylenol and Vicodin which put me in a coma, so I have to be careful what I put in my body. I can't take anything with Tylenol in it. Recently the company which manufacturs the Duragesic patch switched the delivery system from gel to matrix style patch. The first month I was in so much pain I didn't know what to do, this past month I asked my pharmacy to get the Sandoz brand of patch but I'm still in pain. I thought that maybe someone might know of another generic brand that REALLY works.
I also have RSD in my right arm from a previous accident. All of these years I've been using the brand name patch and my pain has been under control now every day is a nightmare. I just want it to be like I was a couple of months ago. Yes, I do have a pain management doc that I see every month, sometimes I see him twice a month if the pain is really bad. Thanks.
Fentanyl - Does anyone know of a different manufacturer of the Duragesic patch that works as good as

I've been using the Watson Fentanyl patches (100 mcg/hr and 50 mcg/hr) for severe RSD in both feet for six years. They've been a lifesaver.
However, they are huge, the gel shows through the patch, and I was going broke buying the clear adhesive to ensure they would stay on for the three days. I was embarassed by the questions people would ask (i.e. those are some big nicotine patches you got there; how much did you smoke?!), so I started wearing a sweater or long sleeved shirt at all times. I live in Hawaii so I was really sweaty all the time, which defeated the whole purpose because perspiration also makes them come off. I was afraid to switch to the other type of patch that is much smaller and contains the medicine in the adhesive; it seemed like if I couldn't see the medicine, they'd be less effective (purely psychological, I know now!).

I used the Durageis brand patch for many years and then the supply seemed to dry up and I could not get that brand any more and I tried several generic brands before I discovered the Fentanyl patch manufactured by MYLAN Pharmaceuticals - I find this patch just as effective as the Duragesic brand and I no longer require the patch covers to keep the patches on my skin - I change my patch every 24 hours and I am using a 100 ugh patch but I suggest that you try to generic patches in the light blue and white box ( the blue is almost an aqua color of blue and again the company is MYLAN out of Morgantown West Virginia - Good Luck Angela
