You will find some useful information here about female infertility.

You should visit a fertility specialist.

I also have pcos. My ob/gyn first put me on metformin to help with ovulation, but it wasn't working because I wasn't even having menstrual periods. So then, they prescribed 10-14 days of Prometrium(Provera is another option) to get a cycle started and also prescribed Clomid. On my 2nd cycle of generic clomid I got pregnant. I had no bad side effects to the clomid. Day 21 of that cycle my ob had me come in for a blood test to see if I ovulated and confirmed that the ovulation test sticks do work. As far as I know now, I cannot get pregnant without clomid(I do not ovulate otherwise) and I've realized that I've always had pcos(irregular periods since puberty).
There are a lot ob offices out there that treat infertility, I would get another ob/gyn if yours refuses to treat you and gives you limited options to help in getting pregnant.
Good luck!
