Ephedrine is not physically addictive. However tolerance can develop with prolonged use. This is a condition where more of the drug is needed to produce the same effect as the last time.
Effectiveness often returns if the drug is withdrawn temporarily and then re-introduced.

Yes indeed, ephedrine causes a release of the brain’s natural anti-depressant, serotonin, along with dopamine. ephedrine interacts with these two feel-good chemicals in a similar way, thereby significantly altering their mode of action. scientists aren't completely sure how ephedrine affects serotonin, it is clear that something occurs that causes an increase in mood and brighter change in personality. the dopamine released during ingestion of ephedrine has a potential for addiction. especially after prolonged use of ephedrine ur body creates a tolerance for it in such an aspect that alcoholics have. just like alcohol, after using ephedrine for prolonged use of time u need to be careful on ur method of quitting because the withdrawls your body will go through can be very damaging. definately be careful with ephedrine because as i've found out it can cause serious and permanent heart problems.
