Are you going to continue taking suboxone? It is not a magic pill that you will heal you with only a few doses. For some reason we are seeing that people think that. There wasn't enough info in the post to tell if that is what you were asking. The neurotransmitters and receptor sites in the brain still have to heal and suboxone normally quells cravings and withdrawal while you are in a program of addiction counseling and continued suboxone treatment until that happens. If you don't take anymore suboxone, you will go into withdrawal in 2 to 3 more days but it will not be suboxone withdrawal, it will be withdrawal from your previous opiate you were using. Suboxone will stay on the receptor sites in the brain for 3 to 5 days, receding off those sites until it is gone and then you will go back into opiate withdrawal. If you will google the COWS sheet ( clinical opiate withdrawal scale) it will tell you the various symptoms of withdrawal from opiates.

Hey suffering in silence,
You aren't suppose to start suboxone until you are in opiate withdrawls. I'm assuming you did that. You will need to maintain a reasonable level of suboxone in your body or you will go back into opiate withdrawl in 3 - 5 days after you took the suboxone. Do you have a prescription for it?
I must recommend you talk to a Suboxone doctor to continue on this detox plan. You can google "suboxone doctors" and find ones near where you live. Suboxone treatment is a program of several months (3 - 6 months at least) and should involve talk therapy for the addiction issues as well as the drug therapy.
You can still taper off the opiates, if you can't afford or don't want to continue with the suboxone. You can avoid opiate withdrawls by reducing your intake slowly over several weeks. Or of course, you can go cold turkey, but as you know that can be horrible, as you put it.
If you would like to talk further please feel free to post or send me a private message,
Laurie

I take subs when I can't find pills. And from what I've read here that it should cause w/d. But that's not the case with me. They actually get me high
It depends what types of opiates you are taking, as to whether or not you will suffer precipitated withdrawal. There are two types of opiates, opiod agonists, and opiod antagonists. I have taken sub 5 to 6 hours after taking percocet and made out fine, as percocet has a short half life. I have also taken suboxone 24 hours after methadone, and suffered the WORST precipitated withdrawal possible. Suboxone is an opiod antagonist. It goes in, pushes off whatever is sitting on the pain receptor, which makes the other opiod pull away, while the suboxone fights to get on, hence, horrendous, quick, 3 days in withdrawal type symptoms. In laymans terms, this is precipitated withdrawal and what occurs in the brain.

It's been 5 days since I took a Percocet and the home drug kits are coming up negative (the test strip is visable but not as strong as the ...
how would it affect her to take another one 8mg strip should she get better or worse
My doctor started me suboxone the monday before last. He told me to take half of an 8mg strip twice a day. However I found i only neded half a strip ...
So I've been on subs for about a year, started on 8mg under the tongue and immediately started cutting them in half and trying to ween myself ...
... day. My dr. has put me on 20mg oxycontin 2x a day for about 6weeks. I am now on 5th week and I realized that at times because I was taking it ...
That was the exact answer I was looking for. Thank you.
No I'm not on a sub program just got one from a friend. In hopes it would help me kick my two year habit. Perks, Lori's R's what ever I can get my hands on. Dr had me on narco about 6 months ago due to inoperable neck condition. My dr quit on me and new dr gives me ultram. Now I'm hooked and have to buy off the street. Have no other choice in Dr's because I have no insurance and go thru the charity hospital we have here. And to make it worse I was laid off and can't afford to buy off the street. So I figure its time to quit. I went thru w/d with methadone five years ago. Hell on earth. Scared to death ill have that experience again. Got the sub thinking it would help while hydro gets out my system.
Thanks so much for your advice!
Bless your heart and the rest of you too. WD symptoms are all attempts by the body to bypass the damaged neurotransmitters in the brain so that it will release its own opiate. The body and brain both love opiates, whether they are from the brain or a pill, it craves them. The body sends a variety of nasty symptoms hoping to override the damaged parts of the brain to see if a different signal will trick it into releasing opiate. I know you won't feel like doing it, but exercise, such as walking, helps reboot the damaged parts of the brain and will help it start back working more quickly. You can try taking over the counter stuff to help with your main symptoms which will be pain, and diarrhea, like advil and imodium. There actually is a list of otc meds and supplements that will help with those symptoms called the thomas recipe. Google the thomas recipe opiate withdrawal.

Some states do have programs that pay for suboxone treatment and the medication, you might go to the suboxone webpage, get their toll free number off that page and call to see if they know of available help or if they know if your state has a program to pay for it. I know how bad mentally and physically you feel, swallow that pride and ask for help, you deserve it. Your pharmacy may know of programs that will help with suboxone treatment as well. I know it seems like a daunting task, and you don't want to, but ask anyway. Getting back to the walking, it helps produce endorphins that will help you feel better mentally and physically, and it will help regulate the eat-sleep-wake cycles. Hot showers or baths will help. You really need support right now, to help you. You can always stay here on drugs.com, many will support you and offer advice. I am saying some Prayers for you. Hang in there, it will get better. PS. If you can hustle up just a few more films, you can try taking half or a quarter of the film, it will likely be enough to keep you out of wd. You can also take it every 48 hours to keep you comfortable, it does tend to stay on those sites a few days after last dose.
The wd's from methadone are the worst ever and lasts the longest. It will be no picnic to wd from the other opiate, but it won't be as bad as the methadone or last as long. Be careful coming off that ultram, people have been known to seize after abruptly stopping it. If nothing else, the support here will help you thru this. Maso, a kind and smart man who is a member here, told me to stay busy when I was trying to taper off suboxone, he was really right, member mpvt suggested the walking, and it worked too. Support and getting the focus off of yourself and onto something that will keep you busy will help. Hang in there. It is sunday and there aren't alot of people answering during the day, it will pick up after Churches let out tonight. Hang in there.
