Hello hager lady. I'm not a doctor or in the medical profession. So, its only my point of view, as a layman. Trazodone would not effect a person having Downs syndrome anymore than a person taking it for depression. The side effects are minimal, dizziness is common, and it makes a person sleepy. It sedates. I suppose you might ask a doctor or even a pharmacist, they would certainly beable to add thier thoughts to your question. Best of wishes,
