If you love dogs the way I do, you can get shots to desensitize you to their dander. It takes a couple of years to get it done, but it does help. As far as allergy pills, I don't believe one is any better than than other & I've tried them all. I have ended up going to generic Actifed which is used for colds & allergy, & use Naphcom A allergy eye drops. I wouldn't get rid of my best friend for any reason. What's really funny is we had a Bichon that had terrible allergies too. We had her tested & she was allegic to every kind of meat except duck, but the really funny part is her worst allergy was to human dander, & my husband has psorasis! Now that's a hoot! Good luck with your choices. Oh, & I have never had one make me gain any weight either.
