Naltrexone is a narcotic antagonist. It is thought to work by blocking the effects of injectable opioids (eg, heroin, narcotic pain relievers). The opiates are still "in your system" but if you are taking Naltrexone you can't feel the effects. (You should not take opioids whilst taking Naltrexone as you risk overdosing!)
