... it doesn't work and don't do it and other people tell me it was the best thing they have ever done. Can someone who has had the surgery explain to me what they did and how was the recovery and how they did in the end when it was all over. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for all who answer

Dont do it! My mother just had it 2and a half months ago.She developed 4 bacterias in her body and spine up to her brain. She has been hospitalized on and off for 2 months. She is still in the hospital now.She got the infections from the hospital and has had IV antibotics for 2 months and is no better. My mother was active and loving life until this surgery. If you can stand the discomfort dont take the chance.

I've had 2 Fusions 1st was anterior/posterior broken hardware couldn't see it on x-ray so said I was o.k. took18mo's went back to work because I was o.k.
3wks.later I had my second fusion and repair to the first. It's hard to give advice, but if I could do it over I would have waited until I couldn't stand the pain even on pain meds.My daughter works for a pain mngmnt. doc. Told me
he will not do surgery unless no other option,or their is chance of harm.said compared to knees feet, hips, backs have worst recovery rate.I live with more pain today than before the first surgery.GOOD LUCK

I had synovial cyst removed from L4-5 laparoscopy which led to spinal instability. Last year a fusion of L4-5... the pain now is three times worse and I am pretty much crippled! Can't do anything except move room to room... I fusion would be the last resort! I would hand myself up side down 23/7 if I knew what would happen... I went to consult with doctor about spacer, since one wasn't put in during surgery... he said no. I even asked the doctors if I were a candidate for xlif and they just ignored me... oh, well, my fought for not doing my homework! Please consult on this procedure first since scar tissue seems to be less if you should need conventicle fusion in future... but I say NO FUSION UNLESS YOU ARE CRAWLING TO doctors!
