I have been prescibed it, but think it is the wrong drug for this?
I have been taking mirtazapine for insomnia for three years, and it has always helped. However, the effect has stopped working, and the dosage was increased from 15mg to 30 and then 45mg, but it no longer helps me to sleep. The doctor has now prescribed seroxat for insomnia, but from what I have read online, it seems serax will only make the problem worse, and I do not want to take it.
Does serax help with insomnia?

What medications are used to treat insomnia?
The main classes of medications used to treat insomnia are the sedatives and hypnotics, such as the benzodiazepines and the non-benzodiazepine sedatives.
Several medications in the benzodiazepine class have been used successfully for the treatment of insomnia, and the most common ones include:

Muldanian,
Serax is a benzo that functions as a sedative as well as a hypnotic. It wil more than likely work for you. If you where worried about insomnia being listed as one of it's known POSSIBLE side-effects; don't be. Just because it's a known possible side-effect doesn't mean that you will experience it. There are a lot of sleep medications that have insomnia listed as a known POSSIBLE side-effect. Hope you get the relief you need and I hope this helps.
