Does Kariva extend periods for the first couple packs?

Hi questionsgirl,
Although breakthrough bleeding is quiet normal when you are starting any birth control pill,bleeding excessively or for long periods of time is not normal.
You should contact your doc about this as this form of bc may not be agreeing with you,your doc may suggest you try another pill.

I was on Kariva too, for much to long! Last week of the pack I was a basket case, moody and crying. It did not extend my period. If you are not happy with your pill, go to your gyn and tell him. If you are not satisfied with his answer, go to another doctor. Sometimes, better docs tend to gravitate to urban areas. I think they can make more money closer to the cities (who can blame them ?). For example, my daughter was prescribed a pill here in Martin County Fla. She goes to school very close to NYC. She found and excellent gyn there who gave her a brand new bill and she loves it... she has a hormone disorder and always had bad periods. I hope my advice helps you ! Sincerely LAgirl
