I take 600mg of Gemfibrozil I am alergic to stantins and am finding allot of the same reactions with the gemfibrozil. My joints ache severly, I am retaining so much water that my skin is splitting in several places on my arms and legs. I have allot of blurred vision and halo's when looking at night time lights.
I am a type 1 diabetic with an insulin pump. I also take metformin, 500mg twice daily. I think that both of these drugs may be causing these effects.

No, gemfibrozil does not contain statins.
Gemfibrozil (belonging to the class fibrates or fibric acid derivatives) helps reduce cholesterol and triglycerides (fatty acids) in the blood. High levels of these types of fat in the blood are associated with an increased risk of atherosclerosis (clogged arteries).
