Hey ana,
Antidepressants such as Cymbalta make some people eat more. It really is a matter of your calorie intake though. If the Cymbalta causes you to want to eat more then you have to eat low calorie foods to satisfy without gaining weight. I gained weight over the past few years while on Cymbalta, but I wasn't truly watching my calories either. Now that I am reducing my calories daily I have begun to lose the weight. It is really that simple to me.
Best wishes,
Laurie

Hi ana,
I tried Lyrica, Neurontin, and Topamax, did not gain any weight, infact I lost weight on Topamax yet Cymbalta did make me gain weight. I stopped it and lost it quickly!
The side effects for Cymbalta list weight loss! So I suppose you and I, and Laurie are the oddballs. I also have fibro, and none of the meds I listed helped.
Hope you find something that works for your pain.
Best wishes,
sweetlemon

Hello Ana1970
according to the information that I have found people sometimes have appetite loss and the possibility of weight loss, but I have a friend who is a pharmacist and sometimes depression will cause you to either gain or loose weight, every person is affected differently by medications, on a visit to you doc's office ask him and see what he says, I have a friend who took it and he lost weight, about 15 pounds or more, once he was taken off the medicine it seemed to take him time but he seemed to level off losing weight and in fact has gained weight, (he gained what he lost plus some) keep us posted and I do hope you start to feel better,

He ana 1970. Well, unlike Laurie, and Sweetlemon, I am have no weight gain using Cymbalta. But I do gain it through other medications. Ha! No brainer. Win here, loose there. Last year, for a short period of time I was on 90mg. Long story short, now on 60mg and no weight gain. Not even a case of the munchies. Yet, as caringsonbj stated, the so called "norm" is little or no weight gain to talk about. Go figure huh? :-0) After so many years of trying this and or that, its all just that. Hit and miss, trial and error. It always comes down to this... how well does my body and mind react to and the effects, such as weight gain, shaking and so on. Best wishes to us one and all. :0)

Hi Laurie, I haven’t written to this forum in over a year. Let me tell you why.
I have always been a very active person. I played sports all my life. I love to work in the yard and garden. I would rather be outside than inside. A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Boy was I in a lot of pain. I’ve always been very healthy, so when I started hurting so bad I was really worried at what the prognosis might be. It was pretty sad when I couldn’t even pick up my 5 year old, 30 lb. son. He would repeatedly ask why I hurt all the time. Massages, muscle injections, you name it. I was on Thyroid medicine, pain relievers and a sleeping tablet. I even tried Lyrica. Not a good idea. I gained 15 lbs in 2 months.

Long story short, I started seeing a personal trainer in January 2010. She introduced me to a wonderful supplement. After one month my generalized pain went away. I do not have the aches, stiffness, pain, or tingling like I did before I started taking this. I now have more energy. I’m not exhausted by 7:00 every night. I’m back to working in my yard again. Don’t get me wrong, I do still have tender, painful muscles, but only when I push or rub my muscles.
Now, I have never in my life discussed or suggested anything to anyone. But I am so excited about this product and feel so strongly in its positive effects I just want to get the news out and help as many people as I can. Since this product has made such a difference in my life, I want to “pay it forward” and hopefully help one of you. I know first hand what it’s like to be in pain 24/7 and think that your previous way of life is gone forever. Helping someone else in this way is my primary goal here.
I don’t think I’m aloud to say the name here on the forum. This is not an advertisement. So if you are truly tired of this disease, please get in touch with me.
Sincerely, ReedEli
Hey reedeli,
I would love to know more. I friended you so shoot me a private message and tell me about the supplements. Look forward to hearing about them.
Laurie
Laurie, OK I'm confused. How do I talk to you privately?
Reedeli
I am very interested in this supplement as well... I also "friended" you so you can send me a private message regarding the supplement
Hey reedeli,
Click on my avatar and it should give you the option of friending me, do that first, then it will give you the option of sending me a private message. Until you friend me, I can't send ya a message.
Laurie
LaurieShay, It wont let me. I was able to connect with Cleo130. Lets try this, I will remove you as a friend. You do the same. Then resubmit on your end then I will try again. i want this to work. What do you think?
Reedeli.
OK< I'll do that now.
Laurie
I re friended you and it still won't give the private message prompt. Not sure why. Maybe you can tell Cleo about this new supplement and we can talk
through her until we get this figured out. Sorry.
Laurie
i tried again too. No luck. I let Cleo130 know to pass the info along. I am going to remove you again and wait until tomorrow to try again. Let me know if Cleo130 gets you the info. reedeli
Ok, will do. You may need to check your e-mail settings under My Settings for a glitch, only thing I can think of as to why it won't let us private message.
Laurie
