ok. I should start my period this weekend. I had sex one time since starting the antibiotics. Tomorrow I start my "blank" pills for my birth control pills. Am I right in thinking I shouldn't get pregnant because I should have ovulated over a week ago?

Good question!. Yes, any antibiotic will decrease the effectiveness of your BCP's. You need to use a back up method like a condom or you could become pregnant while on the antibiotics. Use a back up method the whole time you are taking anibiotics and for 14 days after. Continue to take your pills as you normally would just be sure to use the back up method.

The pill supresses ovulation so you shouldnt have ovulated at all. The thing with antibiotics is that they reduce the effectiveness of the pill and could cause you to ovulate during the time you are on the antibiotic and that can make the ovulation unpredictable. There fore there is the need to use a back up method.
