StudfinderMy doctor gave me sample bottles for Benicar 20 mg tablets to get me started.
When they ran out, she gave me Benicar 40 mg tablets which I was told to brake in half. I tried this, but also found that I was feeling irritation as it went down... as if it might be disolving on the way down. Is this due to breaking it in half, or have others experienced stomach irritation with Benicar? Thanks!
Does Benicar cause stomach upset or ulcers in the esophogus?

I have taken Benicar in 20 and 40 mg. and Benicar/Hctz 40/12.5mg. I also have been diagnosed with Baretts Esophogus which on my last endoscopy was negative on biopsy for Baretts. I take 40mg when BP is up and break it into two 20's when BP is back to normal. It has had no effect on my acid reflux which is controlled by Nexium. I have been on the Benicar for about 7 years.
