Does ativan help your depression?

Chauvin,
Ativan is a benzo that acts as an antianxiety med and as a sedative. It will not help with depression. It does help with anxiety, irritability caused by psychotic disorders, insomnia, and with alcohol withdrawls. You may be confusing Ativan (lorazepam) with Xanax (alprazolam), which does help with depression caused by anxiety. Hope this helps.

yes it can, but it generally for general and chronic anxiety. Ask your Dr. but Wellbutrin is much better for depression.
