Low dose (50mg-500mg/day) Aspirin may prevent heart attacks (non-fatal) in men who have not had previous heart attacks or stroke.
Benefit: Men have a 1 in 750 chance of benefit for every year they are treated with Aspirin.
Harm: Men have a 1 in 5000 chance of Brain Hemorrhage for every year they are treated with Aspirin.
Harm: Men have a 1 in 3000 change of a serious stomach bleed for every year they are treated with Aspirin.
Low dose Aspirin does not prevent stroke or death in patient who have not had a previous heart attack or stroke.
Cheers.

From what I read I gather that aspirin inhibits platelets to be created same as plavix. My doctor recommended both after my heart attack.
It will not prevent a heart attack. Its a blood thinner. And fatty tissue in the arterys will still build up without proper diet and exercise. And to much will
give you ulcers or bleeding in the stomach lining. If your at risk for a heart
attack then it might be worth the risk to take a small amount each day.
Other wise ask your doctor for his advise before taking.I take 325 mg.a day.
but i have three stints and the doctor is trying to keep them open.As for prevention of second attack? Their is no magic bullet. Aspirin may keep you alive longer so they can get you on the table to do a stint or bypass.
