I don't think so, Diazepam is a drug that may be prescribed for the treatment of anxiety, alcohol withdrawal, muscle spasms, and seizures. The drug works by enhancing the effects of a naturally calming brain chemical called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

No, diazepam is not an opiate. Mr Goel is correct. Benzo's are not opiates.

When a medications says its one chemical, they can't hide another in it. They would have to tell you if it had any derivative of opium in it.

Not directly, it may be derived from it though. Regardless, if it's helping you off that other crap, what does it matter? Valium is one of the best transition therapies off methadone. Sounds as though you've got a good Doc, stick with it. Hope this helps.

No. Benzodiazepines are a completely different chemical totally unrelated to opioids natural alkaloids or synthetic.
