... Januvia 100 , Actos 45, Metformin 1000, and Prandin 2...
My FBS been great (100)as my A1C(6.5)..But my doctor would like to decrease the doses of my Actos to 15 mg ! and Prandin to 1mg..I did so for few days but lost my FBS good control i used to have..
I wonder why doctors do so when some doses do great, why they have to reduce them? Are the higher doses will have worse side effects so they preffer to reduce them? If no diffrences , why they do so ??

I would think if you are doing so good on the doses your at that the doctor would be happy with that instead of messing with it. I would consider talking to your doctor and stating your concerns especially where you are not stable again. I wish I knew why some doctors do that it doesn't seem like a good idea to be messing with type 2 diabetes, I wish my numbers were that good. Good luck, marjorie zych

Thanks for help..That's what i was thinking too ! But still one part of question left ! :
Are the higher doses will have worse side effects than the lower ones ,(so the doctors prefer to reduce them )?, or not much differences..
Obviously your body needs these medicines so it shouldn't be an issue with side effects it is a matter of what keeps you safe. The main side effect to watch for with these meds is of course low blood sugar and it seems like you have things under control so I don't understand why they lowered you if it works leave it alone I say. A lot of times they do switch meds around because of side effects or to prevent your body from getting to used to the meds and build a tolerance so they change them periodically but these meds should of been fine left alone and I would keep questioning the doctor about it especially if you are starting to go too high again. Hope this better explains things if not let me know and I will elaborate more. Good luck, marjorie zych
Thanks again... That was helpful..
I also would like to know what is the lab test to figure out if having Insulin Resistance or the Pancreas does not produce enough Insulin in type 2 diabetic ? I have asked my doctor but she did not reply clearly!!!
Any idea???
Yes, there is an ultrasound of the Pancreas that can be done as well as other Pancreas tests to make sure the Pancreas is working properly. There are blood tests as well if you need the names of the blood tests I can get them for you so you can confront your doctor with them. Good luck my friend and hope your levels stay good with the changes, marjorie zych
Thanks again , and that was helpful too..
Yes , i do need the name of those tests by blood..Please write them down..
PS: I have returned back to control my diabetes by increasing the doses like i used to take them , also need more time to get fully back to the past , but it's coming up !!
The blood tests to check your Pancreas are, Lypase, Amylase and of course you know the good ol' A1c. I will check with my doctor to verify the others but those are the one's I remember for now. Hope you get those levels back to normal again soon, marjorie zych
