flyboy69I am currently prescribed Dexedrine IR 10mg 3 times a day for add/adhd. I had to travel 2&1/2hrs to the nearest pharmacy with my medication. What do I do? What medication could I switch to? PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!
Dexedrine IR shortage... what stimulant is comparable? Focalin perhaps?

Yikers. I didn't know about that. I take same meds, but get in 90 day increments. Wonder if it has to do with location, or just in general, what the prob is?? Wish I could help you, but that's the only med I've ever been on, since my son was diagnosed first & did all the trials. I ended up being on same med. I assume you've tried Ritalin, Adderall, etc. Your Dr. should know the closest "relative", but I rely, as well, on my Pharmacist for the Pharmacological stuff. They're typically as good as, if not better than the Drs. at knowing the latest, if they're good at what they do. Good luck!

I live in Alabama and there is not a one dexedrine around and they are gone for a while. Like you said, I have heard the expected time before dexedrine will be back in circulation is about or around March 2012. That's what I took and now I'm taking adderall. They make me too nervous and I have heart palputations now. Never have before.
I am going to switching to Vyvanse soon as possible. It's plentiful. It turns into dexedrine once in the body. It is suppose to last 8-12 hours per pill. That is my suggestion. I think the dexedrine long-lasting capsules can be found some places.

I never cared for any of the extended release meds It too difficult for them to regulate how the meds break down and when, in my opinion.

Thank You for your response! I would like to share the research I've done on that "Dexedrine" generic: Barr Dextroamphetamine (Instant release tablets) both 5 milligrams and 10 milligrams are on manufactures backorder until sometime in 2012 date unknown... you can find it on the FDA web page. Barr was bought out by Teva and they sole manufacturers. I can't find them anywhere if you know anywhere I can find any Please Help!!!
Thank you very much. Jan is my refill date, so I'll see what the Pharmacist says... maybe I better get them early cuz I just checked my bottle, and they're Barr, 10mg! I'm sure some Pharmacies will stock up, but they'll run out very fast, I'm sure. I'll let you know if I find out anything!
