Hello Sheila Eddy. Welcome to the site, lots of support to be found here. Would possibly perhaps say a small, slight increase in the pristig, possibly do the trick? Maybe so. Also, I don't know how long you've been on the trio, that you're currently taking, so time could very well still be a factor as to how well the drugs are working in your system. I might suggest this or that but not knowing whats been tried in the past, I'll not add to. Well, hopefully you'll get some more answers, feedback on your question, very best to you,

I had depression, bipolar and anxiety for most of my life. I tried most anti-depressants and anti anxiety meds. It was my GP who then prescribed Lamotrigine 100mg which is normally prescribed for Epileptics and this drug changed my life. I still have the normal ups and downs of life but what a difference it made. The only side effects that I had was sore muscles for a day or two as if I had been to gym but thereafter absolutely none. I take it 100mg every morning without fail (which is important) and when I am pms'ing I sometimes I take another 50 mg to 100 mg at night. I have been on Lamotrigine for 8 years and as I said it has changed my life. Google it. You will see there are also negative comments but there are so many like me who say Lamotrigine has changed their life. I hope like me it will also change yours. My heart goes out to you in your present state because I have been there and I know how it feels. Good luck.
what were you being diagnosed for when they decided to put you on the Lamotrigine? I have the same history as you as far as I can remember, didn't seek help till I finally became suicidal in 1977, where I was diagnosed with clinical depression. I had been on/off meds up until 1998-99 when a phychiatrist finally stated that I was bipolar and had to be on medication for the rest of my life, because it is a lifelong illness that never goes away. ( had to accept that for the 2nd time just recently) If youre being treated for bipolar disease with lamotrigine, then I would like to learn more about it. please let me know why they are giving that to you, thanks

mitiz56,
Lamotrigine is the generic name for Lamictal. By the way you were worried about the rash on another medication you had mentioned. This is also another one that you have to start at a very low dosage and increase gradually to make sure if you don't develop the rash.

Hi, I too have been on lamictal (Lamotrigine) every since it came out. It also changed my life ! I went off lithium and on Lamictal. The best med I have ever had. I take 400 mgs. 200 mgs in the morn and 200 mgs at bed time. I also take clanozapam, (klonipin) , Tofrinil (imiprimine) And Adderall for ADHD in. the morning. I'm sorry you're feeling bad but it can take awhile to get meds just for you. Try to keep a little info on how you feel. Take it to your psyc to better your chances of getting meds to treat you. Give the meds a chance to work (it could take a month or so). I wish you the best. May God be with you in this time of need. Stacey
stacey are you being treated for bipolar? this medicine Lamotrigine, is it a new medication? and is it for treating bipolar manic states? I never heard of it, and from the sound of it, I would like to discuss it with my doctor as well, if it would help me. Please let me know what you're present condition is, to see if its the same thing I am going through?
Hi Mitz, Yes I am being for Bipolar since 1988. Lamotrigine is pretty new. When it came out I started on it. What a change. It is a mood stablizer like lithium and depakote which were not good for me. I also take clonazepam for panic and anxiety. For my anti-depressant is Tofrinil. It is an old med but it work great for me. I am pretty stable except when a trigger hits me. about once a year. For mania I take Zyprexa . I only take Zyprexa when my mania hits and then when it goes away i get wean off of it. I don't take it all the time. I also take Adderall for staying awake. I hope this helps. If You want to know more please feel free to ask anything you want. I have lots of info. 1988 is a long time ago. God bless Stacey

wow i thought I had tried a lot of different meds for my bipolar but the ones you named I havn't even heard of . I wonder why my doctors don't offer any of these. The only ones I have been on that I can remember is abilify, doxepin, remeron, triavil, zoloft, seroquil, and im sure about 5 others I cannot remember. But the abilify is the one I stayed on the longest until I developed diabetes. If none of you're medications seem to be working for you, perhaps another doctor? or explain in detail to the one you have maybe even take daily notes of everything you go through every day so they can see what youre going through. That is what I am going to start doing as of yesterday. I am Seeing my regular physician tommorrow. I hope you get to feeling better soon, I know how crazy it can make you feel, I am just starting to recover from my issues too. I will pray for you.
mitiz56,
Good advice about taking notes to take to psychiatrist. I have a mood chart along with it I check off which medications I take each day and as well I have a journal that I can write any symptoms, triggers, events and reactions to new medications to provide to my psychiatrist. This is very helpful as well to help me determine if I need to watch out for to little or to much sleep which is a sign of either depression or mania coming around and I need to make some changes or call psychiatirst.
yes, you should find this helpful for both you and youre doctor. I will do the same
good luck!!
