My prescription is for 1 150mg. tab twice daily. I reduced the dosage due to excess bleeding.
Why is no pro time needed with this drug?
Dabigatran - Will one 150mg. Pradaxal taken AM and one 350mg. asprin taken at bedtime keep blood OK?

This is not a good idea. You need to see your doctor right away. Do not wait. They will either change you to 75 mg twice a day or move you to another drug like Arixtra, Lovenox, Xarelto, or Warfarin. Please remember that there is NO reversal agent for Pradaxa, i.e. no drug or compound to stop your uncontrolled bleeding if this were to occur.
The preferred test is the ecarin clotting time (ECT). This test is a better marker of the anticoagulant activity of Pradaxa (dabigatran) than activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) or thrombin time (TT). If ECT is not available, the aPTT test provides an approximation of Pradaxa’s anticoagulant activity. INR tests are unreliable in patients on Pradaxa.

Sorry, hit the send button too soon. By taking aspirin you are actually increasing your risk of bleeding. You do not say if you are on any other drugs or what your condition is so there may be other issues that may be causing your increase bleeding in addition to your taking of aspirin. I would stop the aspirin immediately since it appears that you are self dosing, as I find it hard to believe that your doctor told you to take such a high dose of aspirin.
