sheila01Taking azathioprine 50mg 1.5 pills a day for many years. Started prednisone 10mg 4 tablets daily to stop bleeding, tapered down to 2.5 pills and started bleeding again, now back to 3 pills, decreasing a pill a week. Bleeding has stopped again. Started Remicade and have had 2 infusion with no noticeable change yet. My doctors ran blood work and found that my thyroid was not working correctly and they feel that my Crohns and high blood pressure was the cause of flareup. Just to much going on medically! Can anyone tell me about their Remicade experience and how long it took to start working?

Doctors feel that my thyroid and high blood pressure ( which I am now being treated for with meds) is what triggered my Crohns flareup.

I also had a flare-up in January(2010). I was admitted to the hospital for 10 days and was put on IV meds. I get Remicade but didn't start getting it until I was already on othere meds. Prednisone, azathioprine, and Lialda. My doc didn't release me from the hospital until the inflamation had went down. There's a good chance that if there is bleeding \then you still have active ulcers. The bloodwork should tell what level your inlfamation is at. I wasn't allowed to go home until my inflamation dropped and my ulcers were no longer in the active stage. I don't know what all your treatment has consisted of so... Everyone is different.
