Could someone please tell me why Halcion "Triazolam" is suddenly not available in Ontario Canada?

Sorry, I received a new e-mail that the release date for Triazo is not may 1st, but it should be still for may 6th.

I too was told the 1'str from apotoex but the drug store say the 8'th... my guess is we will be given another date on the 8'th till next month as usual

Triplepiped let's hope not!! I've been pushed about as far as I can be and like I've posted before it is not just the Triazo it is also the many other important drugs that people can't advocate for themselves I will do whatever I can and keep this subject open!! Ankica!

So the releised date has not been reported not in June, but is it always in may

yes I got the same generic email and I even called the numbe... the nice lady told me that it may be pushed back again if the ingredients don't become available.. so until I see it on monday the 9'th because no one gets deliveries on a sunday I will presume that just like the last 10 months we will be let down again... sorry just my opinion and it really sucks I am a shift worker and this is the only and I mean only medication that works for me so I do have my fingers crossed but not optamistic as I have been let down every month with a new realse date given to me since Aug 2010???

As I wrote before this afternoon, I phoned once again to Apotex à 15:00 this afternoon may 5, and they told me that the date of 6 and 9 of May are still the same. So, I will see next week. Thank You.

well as predicted we have been pushed back again or has ANYONE had any luck this month??? please let me know... now they are teling me the 16'th but somehow I doubt that??? :(

Triplepiped, I as wrote on this forum ealier today, that here in southshore of Montreal, Qué., Triazolam is still available. I went à 17:00 to my pharmacy and I have been able to renew a part of my prescription. My pharmacy told me that Apotex Canada and their wholesalers cannot make all the distribution of orders in the same day to all drugstore. So for my pharmcy and for me, we think that Apotex Canada has respected the released date of may 13 for returning Triazolam on the "market". Where are you getting your informations?May be your pharmacy will receive his order in a few days...

I got the date of May 16'th from apotex after it was not available on May6'th???

after reading that you were able to get yoyr script partially filled I called the pharmacy immediatly and now they are telling me May 20'th??? :(

well today is the 20'th and guess what... woooohoooo I got my script sleep here I come my long lost freind.

Trust me you don't know how lucky you are!!! It seems to be the only sleeping pill I can take and have taken safely and effectively for years! With my many ailments, sleep is very much needed! I have tried the 5 interchangeables all with bad side effects or no side effect, like taking an aspirin. Thank you once again! I have been looking into this matter over the course of the last 30 days. I do believe that unless "Halcion" starts to make this medication again, we are not likely to see Triazolam back on the drug store shelfs. It was produced by a pharmacutical company called pharmacia & Upjohn which has now merged with a much larger conglomerant-Pfizer.Consumers may have to petition them to start making the drug again.

Last week my pharmacy told me that Apo-Triazolam is no more available. So I wrote to Apotex Canada (apotex customer service) and there is the answer I received this morning.

It is not true that the production of Triazo is cancelled.
Triazolam should be available on May 13, 2011 instead of April 30.

The answer is no provided by Dispedia or iPharmacylist.com but fot for the first time, from Apotex Canda.ca

This is, to everyones great misfortune, the generic answer they have been giving the pharmacists and in turn what they have been passing on to their customers for the last 6 months. A date that is constantly pushed ahead. If you asked Apotex why this is not in production you would get your answer and consumers would be more inclined to start looking for another solution. Apotex can no longer get the "generic" ingredients for this med. That is why it was suggested to contact the company who created Halcion and petition them to start making it again as they hold the patent and would not have this issue with ingredient shortage. I hope for the sake of the people who take this medication and have come to depend on it and know it to work for them that Apotex can start to produce this medication again. However it looks grim. I was just offering another possibility. Halcion is not an expensive drug to produce. When Apotex started making it, Halcion stopped. It was no longer proffitable for them.

I wrote to Apotex Canada yesterday on april 12, and this morning I received the same answer as last week. "Yes, the release date for Apo-Triazolam is the same. There is no problem with ingredients to product this medication." So, I will wait.

I spoke with Apotex yesterday late in the afternoon and was told that all back orders of the Apo-Triazo were released!!! YEAH, now we just have to wait until our pharmacies distributors gets them to the patients who scripts on hold!!! GREAT NEWS ALL AROUND FOR EVERYONE!!!

Thank you so much Arc-en-ciel... I was told by my contact at Apotex that is is indeed allowed in the US and Mexico! I'm just praying that these dates will not be put off again! Please understand it is not just my sleeping pill I'm advocating for, it is also the many antibiotics and that cocktail for aids patients that couldn't get their medications either!

Today may 3, earlier, I wrote to Apotex Customer Service. The release date are still the same: once for the 6 of May and the other for the 9 of May. I also called my pharmacy (drugstore), and they received the same information from their distributor. So may be we will be able to renew prescription of Triazo in the next week. I'm very happy that I have not to take always this medication all the time...

Thank you once again Arc! I, too am glad that you do not have to take this medication... one good thing is I have been off it for so long I'm sure my high tolerance will be gone by now and I will be able to take half or maybe even a quarter of the dose I used to take! Re: the date the pharmacy gave him is because by the time their distributor picks up the order and it is delivered I'm assuming that is why it might be a few days later than May 6th and the 13th! Keep the faith and don't give up!

It is to easy for chemist of drugstore to say that a medication is no more avalalble without taking right informations from the fabricant or their distributors. And you too, don't give up. Your answers are very easy to understand, I could not speak a word of English until the age of 3, my mom only spoke french to us but my dad could not understand us!lol I'm so sorry now at my age that I lost most of my french but I can speak our family slang french as we can only understand! to arc-en-ciel... I was at my pharmacy yesterday and they are trying to give me the same old crap! They say if and when they are released we are looking at the end of May, I sure hope that is not true or a certain some-one will be getting a phone call from me! My doctor wrote a script to be kept on hold, but at the same time it was marked for Gen-triazolam which I think was made by Mylan and they no longer make it because I was told by their COO that the doctors don't prescribe it anymore... more like they will lose billions of dolllars because of the vote in March that allowed Apotex to make them! At 15:00 p.m. I phoned to Apotex. They confirmed that the 6th and the 9th may are still the released date.

I speak with government Representative who has always been on the up and up with me and asked me to report any false info we get from our doctors or pharmacist! This project is his #1 thing to get accomplished as he was off for awhile... he must be busy as all get out but I did leave hi a message, the last time I spoke with him he gave me the same dates as you have posted.

At 14:00 pm I was contacting Apotex Canada desk-orders in Pointe-Claire,here in Qué. Prov. They answered me that the dates of Apo-Triazo have not been reported to another date. Depending of the wholesaler of each pharmacy, we could renew prescription of Apo-Triazol in the next week. So the date release has not been reported to another month.

Hi arc-en-ciel..when I read my prescription that is on hold it said "Gen-Triazolam" which was made by Mylan, now you and I both know that Mylan NO longer makes which was the original "Halcion" and you are absolutely right that Apotex is the only company in Canada that will be making the generic brand under the name of "apo-triazo' SO TO anyone that has a script that is on hold make sure your pharmacist is aware of this!

Date released were good. My pharmacy received Apo-Triazolam 0.125 and and the 0.25 mg Apo-Triazo will be alavable in the same pharmacy in a few days. So, there is no more problems. Apotex Canada did what they can did. Don't forget that since Mylan discontinued their production, it was not easy for Apotex Canada to product more that they can do.

When I spoke with Apotex they told me that it was a false rumor that they did not have the active ingredient and that all back orders went out on Friday for both the 0.125 and the .25... trust me Customer service will be celebrating after that news! Can you imagine the phone calls they get in one day? But the shortage is over but like you said to triplepiped your pharmacy has to have an order in for it to get it! I am soooooooooo happy to have checked this site again, as I had given up on getting the triazolam. I am 50 yrs old and have been taking this medication since I was in my early 20's. Since the unavailability in my city or searching endlessly I had given up. On a freak chance that my pharmacy had got them from a back order I called and sure enough they said they could fill for me today. I am unbeleivably estatic as I have tried everything to replace these and I have a driving job and I was worried about others lingering or making me groggy the next day. This is absolutely a miracle for me. I can get my life back to normal again. I can't thank you and all the members for being persisitant in this matter. God bless you all. Yes after much hard work and a lot of phone calls by the participants of our little group... we have achieved our mission... but please keep in mind that there are a lot of other people that can't get the Aids drug they need and a few antibiotics they are producing now!!! I too have been taking it for years, I remember when they used to make the white .5mg tablet but because of some stories from the states and here in Canada that dosage was discontinued... I'm glad you finally got some relief! If we give up, nothing will be accomplished! In this day and age we have to be very proactive in our own healthcare! Ankica

I'm happy to see all of you feeling better. But don't forget this is a medication... and Apotex Canada advise very well how to take the Triazo for best results. Like all "calming medication" there is a risk of dependance.
