I have been taking the hydroxizine with my regular med. celexa for about two weeks now. I've used the hydroxizine sometimes twice daily. Usually only once. But, at around the same time I started it, I started experiencing pain in my arms, legs, and back with more fatigue. I'm not sure if it's part of the depression and anxiety or if the hydroxizine could be causing it. I was put on the hydroxizine because I recently lost my Mother in a traumatic medical situation and I'm having trouble getting back to reality and getting through my normal daily acitivities. Now the added pain is making that really impossible. I guess I should also add that I was diagnosed with non active pulmonary sarcoidosis in 2004. I keep it checked and have had no real issues with it lately. And I'm a 40 yr old female. Any suggestions or thoughts?
Could hydroxyzine be causing my sudden widespread pain issues?

Hi lane mom,
I think you ought to persevere for another fortnight ( two weeks I am in the UK ) whilst younfully acclimatise yourself to the new drug. It may also be that because of your very sorrowful event of the recent past that your sarcoidosis might be flaring up for a while. All seems to be happening at once and you have my strength and best wishes with atball times. Keep your chin up, fight the damn pain and don't let it win

Hey lanemom,
While pain is not a listed side effect of hydroxizine, you need to discuss with your doctor. The fatigue is a side effect of this antihistamine which is sometimes prescribed for anxiety. James is correct, the pain you are having could be resulting from the inflammation from the sarcoidosis. Only a doctor can diagnosis this situation.
Please contact your doctor as soon as possible.

I still have my Mom she is 93, I am so thankful for that but it would have to be trauma to you entire system to sustain sucha great loss, You are in my prayers along with my most sincere Sympathy, it also may take a little time for you to adjust just to the hydroxyzine hydrochloride, even though you are on a low dose you are having to deal with a lot of different feelings and if I remember correctly at one time I took hydroxyzine and it really made me out of it, so jus allow yourself as he says to give your body and your mind a chance to cope with your medical, physical and traumatic situations, Please allow us to know how you are doing, this is a very kind caring compassionate site of people coping with many issues,
I am sure you have heard this before but I'll say it anyway. Cherish every moment, big or small, with your Mom. With everyone for that matter. I ofcourse like many, wish I had it all to do over again. I would do more cherishing and less arguing. More hugging and less being distant. I loved my Mother, but I just never knew how much until it was too late. I should have told her more. I should have had better actions to show my love too. And since this experience, I have learned and tell everyone. Please make a living will so that your loved ones do not have to make hard, heartbreaking decisions about your medical care if you are unable to for yourself. Do not put your family through that heartbreak. We never know what tomorrow brings and none of us live forever, thank goodness. So it's important to have legal papers in place for unforseen circumstances.
Anyway, thanks for "listening" and responding.

First I would like to say sorry for your loss.I too lost my Mother and had to go on meds for it, I am 33 and she was 57, it was a big shock to us all. If you ever need to talk just friend me and we can talk privately.Meds and depression can really take a toll on the body.
I want to ask. How long has it been for you? Was it recent like mine? I am 40 and Mom was 63. Way too young like your Mom was. It breaks my heart. And yes, like you said, the depression and the meds for them can take a toll. My problem is I've always had to take meds for depression and anxiety. So this event has magnified everything for me. Like, I probably just thought I was depressed and had trouble coping before. Now, I really, really do. I don't know how to talk privately. So you will have to tell me. I'm new to this. lol. my kids and husband are way more pc savvy than me.
Thanks.

Thank you so much to all for responding! I am planning to contact my Dr. tomorrow as my husband is worried one way or another as am I on whether it's the medication or everything just finally catching up with me. Also, I have had inflamation issues with the sarcoid before and this feels kind of different to me. But what do I know, right? I wake up tired, not refreshed. I am sore all over like I've run a marathon or something. I start feeling better a couple hours after I wake, but by early afternoon, I am achy all over again.
Like I said, I thank all of you for responding. I am glad I found this site. It seems like a lot of nice people here.
