Have you tried Kaopectate stool softeners? They work great. I take methadone which tends to be constipating and it works for me. I take a couple at night and don't seem to have any problems. But honestly, lately I haven't had a problem at all. There are prescription meds, I actually have some, but I never took them so I don't know if they give you cramps or not. I guess I wasn't much help. But try the Kaopectate. I won't hurt you.
Good Luck.
