Make sure the prescriber of your Coumadin knows you are taking Macrodantin. He may want to schedule a PT/INR sooner to see how the macrodantin is affecting your system and the blood clotting times.

Macrodantin is one of the few antibiotics that will not affect how your Coumadin works. The presence of an infection such as a UTI, however, can alter how your Coumadin is being metabolized and therefore may require you to have your INR checked. This is especially true if you have a fever or have blood in the urine (hematuria). Hope this helps!
