I have septic arthritis (bacteria attacking tissue/joint) at my ankle. i have been on cloxacillin by I.V for over a week and will be up to 6 weeks. i need to know if it's safe to also take acidolphilus/bifidus and echinacea goldenseal while on the antibiotic? I am also taking vitamin C and garlic capsules. I know i need these extra supplements but want to ensure i don't interfere with the cloxacillin. Thank you!

I hope you are well.
I did a drug interactions checker on this site ..and there are no interactions found among the meds and supplements you are currently on.
Now with regards to acidolphilus/bifidus, the drug interaction checker does not have this specific one listed.
As you know this last one is "friendly" bacteria which are vital to the proper functioning of the immune system and the digestive system.
Ok. I am no Doctor, my suggestion is to go the pharmacy and ask the pharmacists anyhow (tell them what you take)..just to be on the safe side.
Although my personal opinion is that you will be fine... but still do it.

Thank you, caring individual. I hope you are well too! I do try to do as much research as possible. I can't stand being on all of these drugs considering i rarely even take a regular tylenol but! these awful drugs may have saved my life! AMEN! Antibiotics are necessary but damaging. Hi , yes I have been taking meds all my life ( I am 41 )..Boy do I know what you mean.
