my mom 74y/o has both UTI(cystitis) and Upper Respiratory Tract infection.She has arthritis in her knees.she started cipro blindly.can she switch to cefixime?how long should she take it?

Hi Mandy, you should take your mom to a doctor before she takes any medication, especially in view of her age and medical history, as antibiotics and arthritis meds can interact. Take her to see a doctor, take a urine sample, a list of all her meds and her symptoms and see what he/she advises. Hope your mom's symptoms will then be resolved. Best wishes bacterial
