I am on some pain med's and can't sleep, I am on ambien and trazadone but it just does'nt help anymore, so I tried rozerem (if I spelled that right) it did nothing, I tried this sleep promote vitamin and still nothin. I agree with another post that you should only use your bed for sleeping, well ya know, no watchin tv or lying there etc. just sleep. I don't do that I don't have a choice I have to watch tv at night and it's the only place I can. So if anyone has the same problem or can suggest anything else I have'nt tried let me know please. Thankyou.

Have you tried Amitryptiline (Elavil) ? I take 50mg. 45 minutes before bedtime and that has helped some, may be increasing it to 75mg. I have the same problem as you, can't sleep for nothing. I have tried everything under the sun and then some, from all natural to many--many presciption drugs. I was on Trazadone and a very high dose, it did absolutely nothing for me but put on weight. Ambien and Benadryl do just the opposite to me especially the Benadryl. I can actually stay up and wide awake for 5 days on one Benadryl over the counter strenghth. I have tried Restoril, Ativan and Klonopin with no success either. I had also watched TV at bedtime because I wasn't sleeping at all, but the Amitryptiline has helped some, I can usually get about 3 1/2-4 hours in most of the time, like I said it may be increasing but it will be worth it if I can get at least 4 hours of sleep, anything is better than nothing I guess.

Doc started me with Ambien ... worked 2 weeks and then 3 more nights no sleep. So she switched to the Ambien CR -- took it three nights and never did sleep on it. So I asked for Rozerem ... and have taken it for 2 nights and so far ... better sleep ... first night really good ... only one wake up ... last night not quite as good. But, it might be because hubby didn't get home until an hour and half after I had taken it ... I should have just went to bed but I waited up for him, he was out hunting. So last night wasn't quite as good but I'm hopeful.
I have been told by my insurance company that I have to take and fail Sonata before they will pay for my Rozerem ... I think that's pretty stupid ... but nothing I can do. So now I need yet another med before they will cover the Rozerem. But I don't have a choice. I just paid $65. for 10 tabs out of pocket so I cannot afford to pay it on my own :(
Does anyone know if there is a generic alternative to Rozerem? I can't seem to find one ... I know it would be much cheaper ...
Hope everyone gets some rest :)
