Can't sleep I've tried a few med's and nothing is working?

Have you tried Amitryptiline (Elavil) ? I take 50mg. 45 minutes before bedtime and that has helped some, may be increasing it to 75mg. I have the same problem as you, can't sleep for nothing. I have tried everything under the sun and then some, from all natural to many--many presciption drugs. I was on Trazadone and a very high dose, it did absolutely nothing for me but put on weight. Ambien and Benadryl do just the opposite to me especially the Benadryl. I can actually stay up and wide awake for 5 days on one Benadryl over the counter strenghth. I have tried Restoril, Ativan and Klonopin with no success either. I had also watched TV at bedtime because I wasn't sleeping at all, but the Amitryptiline has helped some, I can usually get about 3 1/2-4 hours in most of the time, like I said it may be increasing but it will be worth it if I can get at least 4 hours of sleep, anything is better than nothing I guess.

Have you tried some light music, like on an alarm clock that automaticly shuts off usually about one hour or so depending on how you program it, sometimes with the combo of the Amitryptiline and the soft music it helps. You can try this if you haven't already and see if it works for you at all. Good luck insomnia is hard to beat. Good night and sweet dreams I hope for you. Hope this little tidbit helps
