All these medicines ... nifedipine, Toprol (metoprolol) and lisinopril are different classes of medicines (work differently) used to lower blood pressure.
If your dad's blood pressure is not controlled sufficiently with one class of blood pressure lowering medicine, it is normal to add on another class of blood pressure lowering medicine.
Please discuss with his doctor if this was in fact his reasoning for adding on 2 other classes of blood pressure lowering medicine.
