Can you apply this cream to your lip and mouth area to provent or help heal a herpes breakout of?

USES: This medication is used to treat cold sores (i.e., oral herpes) on the face or lips. This medication may also be used to treat genital herpes. This medication does not cure herpes, but relieves the pain and may help the infection clear faster.

HOW TO USE: Begin using acyclovir as soon as signs of a cold sore or genital sores occur. Signs of a cold sore include tingling, redness, burning, or itchiness. For external use only. Wash your hands with soap and water before and after applying this medications. Clean and dry the affected areas before applying the medication. Apply to all sores as directed by your doctor.
