I know exactly what you mean and yes, warfarin can cause those little dark spots on the skin.

Hopefully your physician has also referred you to a coumadin (or anticoagulation) clinic. They are staffed by nurses and/or pharmacists. They are a wealth of information and can answer all sorts of questions without making you feel like you are bothering them. Plus, if you have an artificial valve and will remain on warfarin for longer than 90 days, they can help you get set up with a home INR monitor.
