I realize this answer is very, very late but may help someone in future. Yes you can use Oxistat cream externally for an yeast infection.

Oxistat (oxiconazole) topical is an antifungal medication. Oxiconazole topical prevents fungus from growing on your skin.

Oxiconazole topical is used to treat skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm.
