my skin appears normal. my skin hurts for my shirt to touch it on my back. now it has spreaded to my side. i am being treated for shingles but the treatment is not working. condition has lasted for 3 weeks.

Sounds like it is post herpatic neuralgis from the shingles. The shingles virus can effect the nerves and cause them to signal pain even though the rash has cleared. In some people this can go on for years. I hope this will not be so in your case. It can be treated with drugs like Lyrica and gabapentin or Neurontin. Talk to your healthcare professional for advice.

she is right it needs the attention to be brought to your doctor, I had a friend who had similar symptoms (this person had shingles) she had it in her eyes she was placed on Neurontin for nerve pain. I of course realize your is located differently. wish you the best,
Wow-having shingles in the eye is VERY dangerous! Anytime shingles is on the face you should be evaluated by an ophthalmologist. They can put a stain on the cornea and look for a certain pattern on the cornea to tell if the shingles are spreading to the eye. Shingles can quickly cause blindness if it attacks the optic nerve.
thank yall for your input. i just completed a prescription of (famciclovir 500mg 7 day supply.) . i am just about half way through a bottle of neurontin. Nothing is working. I question weather or not if it is shingles. still skin appears normal and condition is the same.
