Can short term use of Oxymetazoline (Vicks 12 hour Sinex Spray) cause loss of the sense of smell?

Thank you, itsmetoo2. I have a bad cold and used the 12 hour Vicks Sinex, which worked very well. I usually use the Vicks Sinex that is for a shorter duration and have never had a problem with it, but didn't have any on hand. My congestion is pretty much cleared up, but I started to realize that I cannot smell any odors, including peppermint, chocolate, tuna, etc. I was very worried, but will hang in a few more days to see if it clears up. If not, I will call my doctor. Again, thank you very much for your response!
