Yes, it does. I began this medication on the advice of my doctor when I asked him if there was anything out there that would increase my appetite. I have RSD as well as RA which have left me with virtually no appetite at all. That's because of the strong medications I am on. He thought this medication would work for me. I began taking it on Aug 21 of this year & have already gained 7lbs. This is NOT a placebo effect. I actually began noticing I was a little hungry on the 4th or 5th day. Can't tell you how excited I am. I have noticed that a lot of people are enquiring if the drug is OTC or prescription and it is prescription. I have noticed a few side effects which are very dry mouth and dry eyes that look blood shot. I'll put up with that if it means I will be hungry. Everyone is different so take it as prescribed with a glass of water and food. It could upset your stomach. Hope your outcome is as good as mine has been.
Yes it does. We often give this drug to pediatric patients who have FTT (Failure to Thrive) or trouble gaining weight due to chronic conditions. It has antiserotoninergic effects that modulate the histamine response within the body causing acute hunger. Another drug that is sometimes used with adults is Marinol (a synthetic cannabis if you will). It is used to stimulate hunger, as well as manage the effects of nausea and vomiting associated with chemo and other chronic conditions.
