Galantamine common side effects: loss of appetite and weight loss. If they do not go away soon you must contact his Dr. asap.-

my Uncle took this drug and he had this same effect, (this may not be something that has been given enough time) but with my Uncle he was thin enough until they could not allow him time to see if this would go away, Unless you have the same problem talk with your doctor and it may be that it is safe for him to wait, or he may even reduce his medication, sometimes reducing the dose will allow the body to adjust to the side effec better but don't do this without talking with the doctor
