Can the enzymes in lactaid help by breaking down dairy or occasional fatty foods, if I'm in the early stages of pancreatitis? Had it twice in 3 years & had to be hospitalized both times. I now realize I DID have some early symptoms - is there something I could have done to prevent it from getting that bad?

Limiting yourself to one or two alcoholic drinks per day may significantly lessen your chances of developing alcoholic pancreatitis. Once you have had pancreatitis, though, you should not drink at all; any drinking carries the risk of new attacks.
Controlling your weight and maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle may prevent gallstones and help reduce your risk of gallstone pancreatitis.
