If kidneys fail requiring dialysis, do they ever start "working" again obviating the need for continued dialysis. (If the original diagnosis was papillary necrosis.)

There is hope! I started on Hemo diaylsis for 9 months, then began PD at home. My kidney function has gone from 5% to 15% in 3 years. I am on one bag a day now during the night and dry during the day. The doctors figure it has to do with the Wegeners. Although I am still waiting for a kidney transplant , things are looking good. The doctors tried an experiment, no dialysis for a week, but decided not to take me off the one bag in case the Wegeners flares up again. If I go off dialysis, I lose my spot on the transplant list. Keep the faith and maybe your kidneys will regenerate like mine.
