Can I take Tums as well as Aciphex?

- aciphex, tums
I take aciphex daily and tonight I have really bad heartburn for some reason. I have taken another aciphex because the doctor told me that once in a while I could take two a day. But can I also take Tums or an over the counter antacid if my heartburn gets bad like tonight and not do any harm?

Yes, you can take another antacid periodically if you need extra relief, that would be preferable to taking another Aciphex.
